"Gardening is a way of showing that you believe in tomorrow."

We were so lucky to get an apartment with a porch! (I had almost given up hope on having outdoor space) But here we are and its a huge! We absolutely enjoy life out there! Herbs and flowers were planted in pots throughout the space and we also tried to include as many climbing vines as possible too to grow up and over the railing. I bought our plants at both Bachman's and Highland Nursery and i'm very pleased with the quality from both but Highland had some really really fun varieties!
This Spring's Porch freshly planted up.

This summer's porch in bloom!

I love to watch my garden grow...

Planters this spring...

"Of all the wonderful things in the wonderful universe of God, nothing seems to me more surprising than the planting of a seed in the blank earth and the result thereof."--Julie Moir Messervy

"Kiss of the sun for pardon. Song of the birds for mirth. You're closer to God's heart in a garden than any place else on earth." -- Dorothy Frances Gurney
Planters now! (and Kayden, my cat, enjoying them... especially the chives!)

A Perfect Pear

I did the flower arrangements for a marriage renewal event. When choosing a 'theme' or direction for the decor, I decided on 'A perfect Pear'. These couples have been married years, proving that they are, indeed, a perfect pair.

I choose to do a variety of different arraignments, grouping them together as centerpieces on the tables. Doing this is not only adds interest by creating texture and variety but it makes the overall look untraditional, unexpected but still super chic'.
My favorite tulip trick is to submerge them in water. The tulips can handel it and its always a crowd pleaser!

Something Feathered, Something Blue, Something Warm, Something New

Last weekend I did a winter wedding near Duluth Minnesota. The vows we made at Sunset in a beautiful church on a hill. Mr. Peacock was our inspiration for a yummy, rich color palette of royal blue, deep purple, blood red, and chartreuse accents. Birch trees, twinkle lights, and candles filled both the church and reception adding ambiance to the cold evening.
For the flowers we used Black Magic Roses and peacock feathers in the bridesmaids bouquets. The bride, whom already wearing feathers and not wanting to fly down the aisle, had a mixture roses, cala lilies, dalias, and ranunculus in of reds, purples, and greens in her bouquet; everything tied with a thick black satin ribbon. Boutonnieres featured a feather and coordinating flower that stood out nicely against the black on black tux.
